I used my new Rollei 35 a few weeks ago and got the slides developed. I am very pleased with the camera so far. Need to go get some stuff repaired on it though. (shutter is unreliable below 60th and the gears are stripped in the film winding lever.)

a shot for my assignment on Gender

Rest of these are from the assignment where I couldn't leave my car until the roll was done.

can't wait to start using color neg film so I can get some more detail on those shadows.

a design oriented shot based on the focus of the whole image rather than selective focus on a certain part of the image.

I took a large format class over the summer. This was the one image I liked that I took away from the class. i cropped out a very large barn door and rooftop on the right and top of the image. I do love the detail of a 4x5, but damn that is cumbersome. I can't imagine what it is like using an 8x10 or larger.

First one is cool, the rest arent that interesting. Your shots (especially the first one) could highly benefit with some interesting models in them.

BW film like tri-x is the only film worth using, the grain and tonality you get from that thing is sexy. Not sure why you'd want to shoot color in film though, unless it's a nostalgia thing. You get much faithful/better color reproduction from digital sensors. Course it's all good if these are for classes Smile

The film grain in color neg film is pretty insane actually. I have to enlarge the image to about 35" before I start seeing the first signs of grain. Speaking about darkroom process of course though. There is some quality loss in the film to digital transfer since practical film scanners still haven't really caught up to the recent advances in film technology.

I do agree that digital sensors handle mixed lighting better than film. However, in my experiences at least, color and b+w neg films have a much larger shadow/tone range than digital. I believe digital is slightly better than the shadow/highlight reproduction of slide transparency film. Although it cannot come close to the color of a properly exposed E-6 chrome.

^^ is the film I mainly use. I use it for 35mm, 120, and will probably use it for 4x5 when they decide to release it. The color reproduction is on par with chromes, and it has the added bonus of the extended tonal range of negative film.

Yeah slides have pretty shitty dr. Some of the newer sensors have amazing latitude though, and the old fuji s5/sigma foveon sensors still manage to leave my jaw hanging. It's too bad that most of my shots are taken at stupidly dark places, else i'd be happy to stick with 200asa film Sad
